Ask any of our team leads what they do at home and the answer is the same: a short reset every night, in the same order, before the kitchen light goes off. It takes fifteen minutes, it never gets skipped, and it is the reason their kitchens look the way they do on a Tuesday morning.

Why the order matters

Cleaning is mostly about not creating extra work. Wiping counters before the floor means crumbs land on a floor you have not done yet. Running the dishwasher before you wipe means the sink is empty when you get to it. The reset below is built so every step sets up the next one.

The fifteen minutes

• Load and run the dishwasher, hand-wash anything that does not fit

• Clear the counters completely, then wipe them and the stove top

• Wipe the sink, faucet and the front of the fridge

• Sweep or quick-vacuum the floor, then a fast damp mop if needed

• Empty the bin if it is more than half full

• Set out tomorrow’s coffee cups and switch off the light

Most people finish in twelve. The point is not perfection, it is that nothing carries over to the morning, when there is never time.

What to leave for the weekly clean

Inside the microwave, the backsplash, cabinet fronts, the top of the fridge and the floor edges. Those are on our checklist every visit, and they do not need daily attention to stay under control.

Making it stick

Tie the reset to something that already happens every night, like the dishwasher starting or the last cup of tea. Keep a cloth and spray under the sink so nothing has to be fetched. After two weeks it stops feeling like a chore and starts feeling like closing the kitchen.

When it slips

It will, and that is fine. A skipped night costs twenty minutes the next day, not an hour. What matters is starting again the following evening rather than waiting for a weekend that never comes.
